The Centre for Multi-Party Democracy (CMD-Kenya), Strathmore University and Sports International, jointly with the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Nairobi, launched a program titled 'Towards Accountable Management of Sports in Kenya' on 10th May 2013.

The program will include among other activities, a series of capacity building workshops and trainings, on areas of Governance, Leadership, Legal Framework and Management for Sports Federations and Associations. The core objective of the program is to help improve and develop the above skills in our Sports Federations. This will in turn help spur growth and development in the Sports sector in Kenya. The program will run for a period of three (3) years starting May 2013. This is a program born from the Sports Governance workshop that was held at Strathmore University on 20th April, 2011.The findings showed a dire need for creating capacity within our sports organizations.

This unique and innovative program will be run by several professional facilitators in charge of the various modules. It is a project based program that will involve and engage the Federations beyond the training workshops, monitoring and evaluation activities of the organizations and individual participants, up to certification. Other aspects of the programme will include formation and development of Under 16 teams as well as lobbying and advocacy activities with relevant sports stakeholders.
