I : Institutional and Organisational Development [CMD-Kenya and Political Parties]
Programmes Under Strategic Objective I:
To further develop and create a respectable focused and inclusive national platform, including political parties, working effectively for advancement of multiparty democracy, and political dialogue in Kenya.
Activities:
- Strengthen / scale up the current CMD-Kenya NIMD funding relationship and all the other partners as well as identify and build relations with new partners, and also develop new and innovative policies, strategies, and proposals for resource mobilisation.
- Develop and institutionalise sound policies and practices for the efficient structuring, institutionalisation, management, and running of political parties including issues of internal party democracy and elections. There is need to work to better political party election and nomination processes as well as general, civic, parliamentary, and presidential elections. Also develop the capacities of political parties for internal and external conflict resolution.
- Demand driven capacity building for members and staff of CMD-Kenya and political parties.
- Establish, develop, and support and profile a “state of the art” knowledge and resource centre on political issues and leadership, and use the same to show case political variety.
- Develop and institutionalise sound corporate principles and practices [including good public profiles and image as well as corporate social responsibility] for CMD-Kenya and political parties.
- Work for the betterment of multiparty politics in Kenya generally including by redressing threats to democracy, such as the misuse of money in politics.
- Develop and implement sound communication and information policies and strategies between various CMD –Kenya organs alongside the member parties and between the member parties.

II : Develop sound policies and strategies for and engage in resource mobilisation in conjunction with political parties.
Programmes Under Strategic Objective II:
Effective, aggressive, and focussed resource mobilisation initiatives by CMD-Kenya together with the member political parties.
Activities:
- Develop and implement a SMART resource mobilisation policy and strategy for CMD-Kenya and for the member political parties as well.
- Mobilise local resources
- Engage in SMART income generation activities.

III : Engage in, support and profile the ongoing initiatives on reforms, reconciliation and reconstruction at all levels
Programmes Under Strategic Objective III:
Effective participation and engagement alongside political parties, the state, and non-state actors in major ongoing reform, reconciliation, and reconstruction measures at state and other appropriate levels.
Activities:
- Take initiative in, support, and profile the ongoing reforms at all levels, and especially constitutional, legal [especially political party and political legislation], institutional, administrative, electoral, and land reforms.
- Take initiative in, support, and profile the ongoing reconciliation initiatives at all levels, such as in the National Accord and Reconciliation Agreement [2008], the Truth, Justice, and Reconciliation Act [2008] and TJRC process, the National Cohesion and Integration Act [2008], and others.
- Take initiative in, support, and profile the ongoing reconstruction initiatives at all levels [political, social, economic, and infrastructural].

IV : Promoting equity in gender [especially in regard to women], intergenerational [youth], social [marginalised groups and disabled persons, ethnic and racial minorities] dimensions in political party leadership at all levels.
Programmes Under Strategic Objective IV:
Effective lobbying, advocacy, and other actions to promote equity in political parties and leadership and other spheres of decision making.
Activities:
- Initiate, support and profile lobbying for affirmative action[s].
- Continuously lobby, advocate, and act for equity [especially in support of women, youth, disabled, the marginalised, and minorities] in civic, parliamentary, and party elections.
- Continuously lobby for constitutional, legal, and institutional reforms that give leverage to women, youth, marginalised, disabled, and minorities.
- Continuously lobby and profile initiatives that empower women, youth, the marginalised, minorities, and the disabled through training, exposure and economic empowerment.

V : Networking & Partnerships.
Programmes Under Strategic Objective V:
An organization and political parties capable of tapping and duly exploiting the synergy around it for the greater good of the country and its citizens.
Activities:
- Initiate, support and profile political work with parliament, current and ex-members of parliament, related state organs [electoral commission, registrar of political parties, and ministries], local authority bodies, and civic leaders.
- Build and maintain the requisite networks and partnerships with other non-state actors in the areas.
- Build effective networks with knowledge based institutions.

VI : Governance, Rule of Law, and Public Policy
Programmes Under Strategic Objective VI:
An organisation and political parties capable of well informed engagements and interventions in governance, rule of law, and public policy in relation to various sectors [service delivery].
Activities:
- Carry out well informed interventions and [especially at a policy level], alongside member political parties, on issues of governance, justice, and the rule of law.
- Work with the political parties to interrogate and develop well informed and sound public policy stipulations in all areas for effective service delivery.

VII : Regional and International Affairs
Programmes Under Strategic Objective VII:
An organisation and political parties capable of well informed and reasoned engagements on regional and international issues, especially in regard to securing democracy.
Activities:
- Engage with political and like-minded organisations under the auspices of the East and Southern African [political parties] Regional Programme [ESARP] and other regional and continental initiatives to develop democracy.
- Engage with political parties and like-minded bodies under the NIMD Partnership days and other global initiatives to promote to enhance standards and best practices on democratic governance.
