Create Spaces for us – Women Tell Political Parties

Women aspiring for various elective and appointive positions have challenged political parties to adhere to the ‘ Not More than Two Thirds’ gender representation as provided for in both the Constitution and the Political Parties Act.  This demand has been made by women from   fourteen political parties during bi-lateral workshops held by CMD-Kenya with the support from CIDA and UNWomen.  Under the CIDA project, women were able to engage political leadership of Shirikisho, Kenya National Congress, New Ford-Kenya,  New Revival Generation Party, Chama Cha Uzalendo, National Labor Party and Peoples Party of Kenya.  The other seven workshops funded by UNWomen include:  Orange Democratic Movement  (ODM), Party of National Unity (PNU), Orange Democratic Movement- Kenya (ODM-K),  Safina, Agano, Sisi kwa Sisi, and the Democratic Party (DP).
