Over 350 women from Garissa County attended a one day civic education session in Ijara-Masalani on 25th October 2012. The forum organized by Centre for Multi Party Democracy (CMD- Kenya) was hosted by nominated Member of Parliament; Hon. Sophia Abdi Noor to educate women from the County on their socio-economic and political rights under the Constitution.
Gender Puzzle 8th -12th October
Kenya’s attorney General, Prof. Githu Muigai has resorted to the Supreme Court for advisory over the gender impasse after Parliament failed to marshal the 148 members required to be present and voting in support of the Constitutional Amendment Bill 2011.
1.The country is seized with the matter of providing Kenya with a breakthrough that will facilitate an efficient mechanism for implementing the Affirmative Action principles on Gender Equity provided for in the Constitution of Kenya (2010). These provisions are not progressive but mandatory.

''Gender parity now is not a new topic in Kenya. This is because it is very well provided for in the constitution of Kenya 2010 and more specifically in the Bill of rights. The Significance of this lies in the fact that to amend any of the provisions in the bill of Rights requires a referendum.
